Education:
Bird received her B.S. Degree in Biology and her M.S. Degree in Education (secondary).

Job Responsibilities:
Bird is the oversight of the Learning Specialist team at Illinois where she works one on one with a caseload of students. She is the coordinator of the initial screening process and is the Disability Resource and Educational Services (DRES) Liaison.

Past Experience:
Prior to coming to Illinois, Bird spent five years at the University of Wisconsin as the Lead Learning Specialist and Advisor. She then moved to Florida to become the Academic Advisor and Learning Specialist at Florida State University where she worked with the football program for three years. Bird started her career as a teacher and coach for a high school and Division II Women’s Basketball program where she spent 17 years.
 
Personal:
A native of Hot Springs, Va., Bird is a member of the Bath County High School Hall of Fame. In 2017 she was inducted to the College Hall of Fame at Salem-Teikyo University (formerly Salem College). She has one dog, Ace and loves grilling in the backyard.
