Emergency Action Plan: Ubben Basketball Complex

Venue Directions: The Ubben Basketball Complex is located across the street (east side of Fourth Street) from State Farm Center.Â
Court Level Entrance: Court level access to the building is from the WEST side of the building from the parking lot on the corner of Fourth Street and St. Mary’s Road (entrance to parking lot from both thoroughfares). The WOMEN’s court is located on the west side of the building. The MEN’s court is located on the east side of the building.
Emergency Personnel:Â
Certified athletic trainer and athletic training aide(s) are on site for practice and competition; additional sports medicine staff accessible from Memorial Stadium athletic training room (217-333-6718).

Emergency Equipment:Â
- Supplies (oxygen, pulse oximeter, glucometer, and splint kit) located in the Ubben Basketball Complex athletic training room.
- AED located in the main atrium on the southeast wall of the first level.
Roles of First Responders
- Immediate care of the injured or ill student-athlete.
- Activation of emergency medical system (EMS):Â
CALL 9-1-1
- Provide name, address, telephone number
- Number of individuals injured
- Condition of injured
- First aid treatment
- Specific directions for access to venue
- Other information as requestedÂ
- Be the last to hang-up
- Emergency equipment retrievalÂ
- Direct EMS to sceneÂ
a. Designate an individual to "flag down" EMS and direct to scene:Â
• One person will be at the WEST side entranceÂ
- Scene control: limit scene to first aid providers and move bystanders away from area.Â
- All transported student-athletes will be directed to Carle Foundation Hospital Emergency Department located at 611 West Park Street, Urbana, IL; 217-383-3313.Â
- A staff member (athletic trainer or assistant coach) will accompany student-athlete to the hospital in the ambulance.
