Prep Highlights: West Suburban Gold All-Conference performer in 1997. Named team's captain for 1997 season. Leyden ranked in the top ten in the state and won the Regional in 1997. Batted .360 with 21 stolen bases and 10 RBI while boasting a .941 fielding percentage with only five errors in '97. Also lettered and was team captain in basketball.

Personal: Enjoys playing golf outside of softball. Sammy Sosa is her favorite athlete. Her favorite celebrity is Will Smith. Lists The Mysteries of Charles Dickens as her favorite book. Has two other relatives that have attended Illinois. Majoring in psychology. Plans to pursue a career in child psychology. Born on May 2, 1979. Parents are Mike and Rosa Powaga.
