August 13, 2026 | Soccer
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois soccer (0-0-1) battled to a scoreless draw with No. 19 Georgia (0-0-1) on Thursday (Aug. 13) in Demirjian Park. The Illini are now 4-0-1 in their last five home openers.
Izzy Lee made four saves to keep her first clean sheet of the season, but none were more important than her final one in the 62nd minute. Georgia played a ball deep into the box and Emma Pettersen was in alone with a shot off the first touch that was destined for the back of the net had Lee not been in perfect position to deflect it wide and keep the match scoreless.
Cayla Jackson curled the first shot of the season for Illinois just wide of the Bulldog net in the seventh minute. In the 25th minute Jackson played a ball into the box to Ashlyn Adams who had a quality chance and recorded the first shot on goal of the season for the Orange and Blue. Alyssa White led the Illini offense with four total shots, two of them being on net.
Illinois soccer is back in action a week from now on Thursday (Aug. 20) when Cincinnati travels into Demirjian Park. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. CT.
