Illini Fall to VCU, Saturday's Game Vs. #6 Coastal Carolina Canceled Due to Weather

RECAP

CONWAY, S.C. – The Illini fell to VCU, 3-2, at Coastal Carolina's Springs Brooks Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams scored the first three runs of the day before the Illini rallied for the two runs in the seventh, but it was not enough as the Orange and Blue moved to 2-4 on the season.

Ryan Ohm tossed 5.2 innings in relief, striking out five Ram hitters while allowing zero earned runs and just three hits. Mitch Dye tossed 1.1 shutout innings, while Aidan Flinn took the loss in his first-career start despite allowing only one earned run and one hit and striking out four in his two innings of work.

Brayden Mazzacano registered his first career hit in the third inning and scored a run, while Collin Jennings and Jack Zebig accounted for the Illini's other two base knocks in the game.

The Orange and Blue's two runs came on back-to-back bases-loaded walks in the seventh inning.
