SARASOTA, Fla. — Illinois women's golf finished the first two rounds of the Spartan Suncoast Invitational on Sunday evening, sitting in 11th place after carding a team total of 620 (+44) on a very windy day at Palm Aire Country Club.
Victoria Zheng led the way for the Illini, notching a 73 (+1) in the opening round, and a 74 (+2) in the second round. Zheng birdied four times on the day, twice in each round and was one of just five players to achieve par on 25 or more holes.
Anna Ritter finished the day tied for 34th, tallying rounds of 77 (+5) and 78 (+6).
Erica Lee sits in a tie for 54th, after rounds of 76 (+4) and 83 (+11). Brielle Mapanao sits just behind Lee in a tie for 59th, following rounds of 79 (+7) and 81 (+9). Alexis Myers is tied for 64th, with rounds of 80 (+8) and 82 (+10).
Currently, Northwestern holds the team lead with a 600 (+24) and Dianna Lee of the Wildcats has the individual lead, the only golfer sitting even (144) through two rounds.
The Fighting Illini return to action tomorrow, Monday, February 16, with the third and final round's shotgun start slated for 7:15 a.m. CT. Results can be followed on Scoreboard by Clippd.
