CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The Illinois football team moved up one spot to #11 in the AP Top 25, the Associated Press announced Tuesday. Illinois remained at #12 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
The #11 ranking is Illinois' highest since reaching #7 during the 2001 season.
Illinois head coach Bret Bielema has had the Illini ranked in 19 AP polls during his first five seasons in Champaign. It is the most weeks ranked for the Illini during a five-year stretch in 35 years.
The Illini travel to Duke on Saturday for its first road trip of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.
