CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini men's golf program was recognized Tuesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for its success in the classroom when the organization announced its 2024-25 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Awards.
The PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Awards honor programs across all collegiate levels – NCAA Divisions I, II, and III; NAIA; and NJCAA Divisions I and II – that record a team grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better. A record total of 292 programs were honored across all six divisions.
The Fighting Illini also earned the added distinction of being one of 75 NCAA Division I programs to earn the 2024-25 Presidents Special Recognition for having a team GPA of 3.5 or better. The Orange and Blue were one of just seven programs nationally to boast a team GPA of 3.5 or better while also competing in the 30-team field at the 2025 NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
This marks the ninth consecutive year that the Illini have been recognized with the GCAA's Team Academic Award, and the fourth time in the last six seasons that the team earned the Presidents Special Recognition.
