CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Four Illinois women's tennis student-athletes have been tabbed College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honorees, the association announced on Tuesday.
Senior Kida Ferrari was recognized for the third time in as many years while fellow Illini Megan Heuser and McKenna Schaefbauer earned recognition for the second time and senior Kasia Treiber earned her first honors of the sort.
In their final seasons at Illinois, Ferrari is working towards a bachelor's degree in strategic business development & entrepreneurship, Heuser is studying interdisciplinary health sciences, Treiber is pursuing an accountancy degree, and Schaefbauer is majoring in political science.
To be eligible for the award, a nominee must have a 3.50 GPA and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Nominees must also be a starter or important reserve to the team and participated in at least 70 percent of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores.
All four honored Illini were staples in this season's lineup. Schaefbauer and Heuser tallied 16 victories each, followed by Treiber with 13, and Ferrari posted eight.
On the doubles courts, Schaefbauer and Treiber racked up 18 victories, Heuser owned 15, and Ferrari tallied 14.
The quartet of CSC Academic All-District Illini helped the Orange and Blue to a 15-13 team record on the 2025 campaign along with the squad's third consecutive season appearing in the NCAA Tournament. Illinois advanced to the Round of 32 for the fifth time in program history with a First Round win over No. 30 Arizona.
