Boswell Running it Back for Senior Season

News

CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Illinois guard Kylan Boswell (Champaign, Ill.) announced on his social media accounts Wednesday a return to the Fighting Illini for his upcoming senior campaign.

Boswell started 34 of 35 games during the recently completed season, his first with the Illini. He was fourth on the team in scoring, averaging a career-best 12.3 points per game. He ranked second on the Illini in assists at 3.4 apg and was fifth in rebounding at 4.8 rpg, also a career-high average.

Boswell scored in double figures 24 times on the season, including each of the last eight games, finishing with an average of 16.9 points over that stretch. He topped 20 points three times on the year, including twice during postseason play, recording a career-high 24 points in the Big Ten Tournament second-round win over Iowa and closing the season with a game-high 23 points in the NCAA Tournament second-round game vs. No. 18 Kentucky.

Boswell was the team's top defender and showcased his versatility by drawing defensive assignments ranging from point guard to power forward. He also etched his name into the Fighting Illini record books on Dec. 29, recording the seventh triple-double in school history with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a victory over Chicago State.

Boswell helped lead Illinois to 22 wins and an NCAA Tournament Second Round appearance in 2024-25. Illinois is the winningest team in Big Ten play over the last six years during the Brad Underwood era and stands as one of just four teams nationally with six straight 20-win regular seasons.
