CHAMPAIGN, Ill. --Â Illinois baseball (19-13, 8-6) suffered a rare home defeat, falling to Indiana (20-15, 10-7), 12-3, today at Illinois Field.
Kyle Schupmann went 3-for-4 with a run, home run and two RBI, and Collin Jennings also tallied a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with two runs, a home run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hoosiers plated five runs in the second, with the Illini grabbing one back in the bottom of the frame on Schupmann's solo home run, his team-leading eighth long ball of the season. Schupmann would then make it a 5-2 game in the fourth with a two-out RBI-single to score Jennings.
Indiana would put the game out of reach with four runs in the fifth and would also tack on runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth inning to push its lead to 12-2.
Jennings launched a solo homer, also his eighth of the season, with two outs in the ninth and Illinois would load the bases in the frame, but were unable to mount a late rally, falling 12-3.
