OCALA, Fla. – The Illinois swim team wrapped up the first day of competition at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships on Thursday (March 13). Kayla Duran toppled the six-year-old 50 breaststroke program record with a 28.22 time today in her seventh-place finish in the A finals. The record she broke was set by Gabriele Serniute (28.92) on Feb. 22, 2019.
Logan Kuehne improved her own program's second-fastest 50 butterfly to 24.04 which earned her bronze in the A finals. Sara Jass also claimed bronze in the 200 IM A finals (1:59.46).
The 400 medley relay team of Sophia Paduano, Duran, Logan Kuehne, Sydney Stoll swam the program's fourth-fastest time (3:40.88) in their ninth-place finish.
Paduano also later swam the program's sixth-fastest 50 backstroke (25.63) and Sophia Yousuf swam the school's seventh-fastest 200 IM (2:01.61).
Isabella Wilhelm swam the program's ninth-fastest 50 backstroke on a time of 25.94. The 200 freestyle relay team of Kuehne, Stoll, Molly Yetter and Wilhelm touched fifth (1:32.15).
