WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – [9] Illinois (13-5-2) dropped its Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal match to [1] Washington (12-2-5), 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Folk Field.
Washington's Samiah Shell opened the contest with a goal in the eighth minute to take an early 1-0 lead. Alex Buck went on to net the Huskies second goal of the match in the 39th minute to claim the contest 2-0.
Izzy Lee made five saves this afternoon to raise her single-season saves program record up to 118 stops. Illinois was outshot 12-6 with a 7-3 disadvantage in shots that were on net.
Fighting Illini soccer now awaits their fate to see if they're selected to play in the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will be on Monday, Nov. 10.
