CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The University of Illinois women's soccer team is heading back to the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since 2020 in head coach Katie Hultin's first year at the helm. The Illini are seeded No. 9 and will face No. 8 Ohio State on Thursday (Oct. 30) at 3:30 p.m. CT in West Lafayette, Ind.
The team has put together a record of (12-4-2, 5-4-2 B1G) with 12 wins being their most in a season since 2011 and the most wins ever by an Illinois head coach in their first season. She guided the team to their best start in program history at 8-0-1 to become the only head coach in program history to win her first seven matches and not concede a match in her first nine outings.
Sarah Foley and Cayla Jackson led the team's scoring attack each with seven goals and three assists for a team-high 17 points. Emma Yee was the team's second-highest scorer with six goals and an assist for 13 points.
Izzy Lee made 102 saves over the regular season with nine clean sheets which is the fourth most in a single season in program history. Additionally, her 102 saves rank fourth most in program history and she became the first Illinois keeper to make 100+ saves in a season in 12 years since Claire Wheatley had 101 in 2013.
