Fighting Illini Lock In Home-and-Home Series with Florida State

News

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A home-and-home series between the Illinois women's basketball team and the Florida State Seminoles has been locked in, with the first game in the sequence marking the 2024-25 season opener for the Illini.

Illinois will host Florida State on Thursday, Nov. 7, in State Farm Center. A return trip to Tallahassee is slated for the 2025-26 season.

The 2024 matchup marks the third meeting in the all-time series between the programs. Most recently, the sides met in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge during the 2021-22 season. FSU leads the series, 2-0, with the first meeting taking place in 1990.

Coached by Brooke Wyckoff, Florida State turned in a 23-11 record last season, including a 12-6 mark in ACC play. The Seminoles advanced to the ACC Tournament semifinals and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Fighting Illini are coming off winning the inaugural WBIT championship last season and securing a 19-15 record, including five straight wins to close the campaign. Illinois returns a core that includes four of last year's starters, more than 81% of minutes played, and nearly 85% of scoring.

More information on the 2024-25 Fighting Illini women's basketball schedule will be announced when available.
