CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – With the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour co-sanctioning a pair of events this week, Thomas Detry returns to Europe to play in the Genesis Scottish Open, while DP World Tour rookie Matthis Besard will be stateside to play alongside Adrien Dumont de Chassart and Nick Hardy at the ISCO Championship, setting the stage for a busy week for Illinois' touring alums.
PGA TOUR / DP WORLD TOUR
Detry, currently 30th in the FedEx Cup standings and 52nd in the Official World Golf Rankings, is back in action for the first time in two weeks. Since his T4 finish at the PGA Championship in May, he has made five straight cuts, including a T14 at the U.S. Open last month.
Detry has had great success in previous outings at Scottish Open, held at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, including a runner-up via playoff in 2021 and a T10 finish in 2022. He has never finished outside of the top 45 the venue in his career.
Besard, coming off the best finish of his young career with a T6 at last week's BMW International Open, will make his U.S. debut as a pro at the ISCO Championship at Keene Trace Golf Club's Champions Course in Nicholasville, Ky.
He will be reunited with Dumont de Chassart again after the 2023 Illini alums also played together at the DP World Tour's Soudal Open, hosted in their home country of Belgium in late May.
Dumont de Chassart was back in Illinois for last week's John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., where he posted a T46 finish with his fourth made cut in his last five PGA TOUR events.
PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS
On the PGA TOUR Champions, Illini great Steve Stricker returns to Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, to defend his title at the Kaulig Companies Championship, one of his 17-career wins on the tour. Stricker also won the event in 2020, then known as the Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS Championship.
LIV GOLF LEAGUE
Thomas Pieters tees off this week at the LIV Golf event in Andalucia, Spain at Real Club Valderrama. The RangeGoats are ranked ninth in the standings, while Pieters is currently ranked No. 30.
He finished T32 in LIV's most recent event in Nashville last month, and is coming off a top-10 finish last week at the DP World Tour's BMW International Open.
KORN FERRY TOUR
A trio of former Illini are in action at The Ascendant at TPC Colorado in Berthoud, Colo., with veterans Brian Campbell and Dylan Meyer welcoming 2024 grad Timmy Crawford in his Korn Ferry Tour debut.
Campbell is currently No. 14 on the Korn Ferry Tour points list with13 made cuts and three top 10s, including a runner-up finish, in 16 starts this season.
Meyer will make his seventh Korn Ferry Tour start of the season and is coming off a T48 finish two weeks ago at the Memorial Health Championship played at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Ill.
Crawford, who earned All-Region honors as an Illini last season, played his way into the event as a Monday qualifier.
PGA TOUR AMERICAS
Two more Illini, Tommy Kuhl and Piercen Hunt, are also continuing their seasons at the Explore NB Open at Mactaquac Golf Course in New Brunswick, Canada. It marks the ninth start of the year for Kuhl and the third for Hunt.
