CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 5 Fighting Illini Men's Gymnastics took second place at the Big Ten Championships with a score of 413.750 Friday evening at State Farm Center.
No. 4 Michigan took first place (418.100), No. 3 Nebraska placed second (407.350), No. 6 Ohio State placed third (406.550) and No. 7 Penn State took fourth place (404.050).
The Illini improved to 16-3 on the year, earning one loss and three wins from the competition.
Illinois broke eight career highs this evening: Ashton Anaya on still rings (15.050), Ethan Boder on still rings (13.950), Connor Micklos on parallel bars (13.650), Logan Myers on still rings (14.150) and parallel bars (13.550), Preston Ngai on pommel horse (14.050) and vault (14.900) and Ryan Vanichtheeranont on still rings (13.200).
The Illini also earned the second-highest vault score in program history with a 72.750, just under the 72.900 they scored against Michigan on Feb. 4 of this year.

Still Rings
Following the career highs, Tate Costa also put up a 13.000 to help push the team score to 68.450.
Vault
Each Illini in the lineup scored well on this apparatus, including Amari Sewell notching a 14.800. Michael Fletcher also put up a good score, earning a 14.400.
Parallel Bars
Illinois tallied a 69.400 team score on this event, highlighted by Will Hauke's 14.200. Fletcher continued his momentum, scoring a 14.100 with Costa taking a 13.900.
High Bar
With a few mishaps, Illinois took a 64.750 team score. Sebastian Ingersoll led the Illini with a 13.700.
Floor
Connor McCool put up another impressive floor score with a 14.150. Evan Manivong put up a 13.800 with Costa scoring a 13.750 to put the team score to a 68.500.
Pommel Horse
With a team score of 69.900, Hauke highlighted this event with a 14.200 and tied for the highest score of the evening. Brandon Dang scored a 14.150 with Micklos earning a 13.800.

Illinois will have the Individual Championships tomorrow evening at 7 p.m, CT at State Farm Center with at least 16 athletes competing. The official announcement of who will be competing will be announced tomorrow morning.
