CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini men's tennis senior Hunter Heck and junior Karlis Ozolins have earned All-Big Ten First Team honors, while sophomore Kenta Miyoshi has earned an All-Big Ten Second Team nod.
Hunter Heck - First Team
Heck has split his time between the No. 1 (4-3) and No. 2 (6-3) singles spots this season. He has an overall record of 20-10 and a 4-2 mark in Big Ten competition.
The New Brighton, Minn., native is also ranked No. 42 in the country in singles.
Karlis Ozolins - First Team
Ozolins has had a phenomenal year of tennis, playing primarily in the No. 1 singles spot with a 6-3 record. The Latvia native also played in the No. 2 singles spot, posting a 4-2 record. He has also posted an overall singles record of 17-9. Ozolins is also currently ranked No. 27 in the country in singles.
Heck and Ozolins have also had a successful season with a 20-5 record together, also going 8-1 in the No. 2 doubles spot. The duo is also ranked No. 9 in the doubles rankings.
Kenta Miyoshi - Second Team
Miyoshi has been a reliable player this season, playing in the No. 3 (6-2) and No. 4 (5-1) singles spots. Overall, the sophomore is 25-8 overall and 6-0 in Big Ten play. He is also ranked No. 99 in the country in singles.
