Illini Stifled by Indiana in 8-1 Defeat

Recap

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Illinois baseball (9-12) was held to just three hits in its 8-1 defeat to Indiana (12-11) today at Bart Kaufman Field.

Jacob Schroeder went 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in the Illini's only run of the contest in the eighth inning.

Cooper Omans, who took the loss in the start, allowed three runs on five hits in 5.0 innings of work and struck out three batters.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hoosiers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third on a two-out, two-run double and never looked backed. The hosts would add runs in the sixth and seventh to make it 4-0 before the Illini got on the board through Schroeder's RBI-single in the eighth.

But the hosts put the game out of reach by scoring four times in the bottom of the eighth, handing Illinois the 8-1 defeat.
