Fighting Illini Baseball Falls to Cincinnati

CONWAY, S.C. -- Illinois baseball (2-4) fell to Cincinnati (3-2), 10-3, Saturday night at Springs Brooks Stadium, on the campus of Coastal Carolina.

Coltin Quagliano provided the offense for the Illini with a three-run home run in the sixth, going yard for the second-straight game and extending his career-long hitting streak to six games. Cameron Chee-Aloy has also hit safely in six-straight after going 1-for-5 in the ballgame.

Will Lavin turned in 2.0 scoreless frames out of the bullpen, picking up three strikeouts without issuing a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bearcats struck first with a run in the second and then pulled away after scoring five times in the fourth to make it 6-0. Cincinnati would also tack on two more runs in the fifth to make it 8-0.

Illinois would get on the board in the home half of the sixth when Quagliano went the opposite way for his second home run in as many games, bringing home Brody Harding and Cal Hejza.

The Bearcats would add two more in the seventh and would go on to hand the Illini the 10-3 defeat.

The Fighting Illini close out their weekend at Coastal Carolina with a morning showdown against Ball State. First pitch is scheduled for 8 a.m. CT.
