Illini Men's Golf in the Pros | Feb. 19, 2024

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A trio of former Illini are in action this week as play rolls on into Week 8 of the 2024 professional golf calendar.

PGA TOUR

Thomas Detry and Adrien Dumont de Chassart are both scheduled to tee off Thursday at the Mexico Open at Vidanta. The event is held at the Par-71, 7,456-yard Vidanta Vallarta Golf Course in Vallarta, Mexico.  It marks the fifth event of the 2024 season for both former Illini.

Detry has made three straight cuts, including a T4 finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am to open the month of February, and most recently finished T28 at the WM Phoenix Open. He is currently 27^th in the FedEx Cup rankings and has moved up to 67th in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).  

Likewise, Dumont de Chassart has made back-to-back cuts in each of his last two events entering play this week, finishing 75^th at the Farmers Insurance Open and T60 at the WM Phoenix Open.

DP WORLD TOUR

Matthis Besard also returns to the course this week at the DP World Tour's Magical Kenya Open at Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi, Kenya. Besard is just a few weeks removed from a T13 finish at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, and has made the cut in three of his last five events dating back to December.
