Sy Records Career-Best Finish at Nexus Collegiate

NEW PROVIDENCE, Bahamas – The Illinois women's golf team finished the Nexus Collegiate in eighth after carding a final round of 304 (+16) for a team total of 898 (+34).
Isabel Sy recorded the best finish of her career, tied for second, with a third round 76 (+4) to finish the tournamet at 1-under. Sy also captured her fourth-straight Top 5 finish, a streak that dates back to the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Oct. 2-3, 2023. The senior picked up two birdies on the day, giving her a tournament total of 11, which was tied for fifth-most among the field. Sy also led all golfers in pat 5 scoring average (4.60, -6) and ranked second in par 4 scoring average (3.96, -1).
Yurang Li finished tied for 30th in the first event of her collegiate career after her third round of 78 (+6).
Erica Lee and Anna Ritter both finished in a tie for 45th after rounds of 73 (+1) and 77 (+5), respectively. Lee birdied four times during the round and recorded the first hole-in-one of her Illini career on No. 12. This marks back-to-back seasons that the Orange and Blue have had a golfer tally an ace during the season.
Lexanne Halama finished in 63rd after her final round of 84 (+12) and Sophia Sulkar, competing individually, placed 64th after her round of 84 (+12).
Tulsa took home the team title at 15-over (879), while North Texas' Ellie Roth claimed medalist honors at 2-under.
The Fighting Illini will be back in action on Feb. 26, where they head to Humble, Texas, to compete in the Chevron Collegiate, hosted by the University of Houston.
