Box Score

URBANA, Ill. - Illinois remained perfect at Atkins Tennis Center this season, securing a 4-0 home victory over Ole Miss on Sunday afternoon. The win saw the Fighting Illini women's tennis team take down the Rebels for the first time in program history and snap a four-match skid against Ole Miss.

"It was another hard-fought win for our squad today," shared head coach Evan Clark. "Our ability to flip four of the six singles matches was the difference today. I'm so proud of the team and how they handle themselves today."

"The team continues to impress us with their organization between the ears especially in tough moments," continued Clark. "We keep challenging them on the mental toughness side of things and they keep delivering. These experiences will give our team a lot of confidence moving forward."

The Orange and Blue improved to 5-2 after the triumph, while the Rebels fell to 3-2 following their second road loss of the campaign. The Orange and Blue now sit at 3-2 against Power-Five opposition.

Illinois got things started with back-to-back 6-3 victories at No. 3 and No. 2 doubles, respectively. Violeta Martinez and Kasia Treiber worked together at No. 3 and picked up their first dual doubles win of the season. Megan Heuser and Alice Xu followed with their second win together of the dual campaign.

Heuser carried her winning ways over to the singles court as the junior won a straight-set 6-4, 6-1 decision on the top court. The Lindenhurst, Ill., native improved to 5-1 on the dual season with Sunday's victory.

McKenna Schaefbauer's 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles would push Illinois' lead to 3-0. The Normal, Ill., native climbed to 5-1 on the dual campaign.

Kasia Treiber clinched the second straight win for the Orange and Blue with a 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles. Treiber's win was her third of the season.

Ole Miss won 4-of-6 first sets on the singles courts before Illinois claimed all four completed second sets. Treiber claimed the lone finished third set.

Illinois' homestand continues next weekend, Feb. 17-18, as Brown and Marshall visit Atkins Tennis Center.
