Illinois Men's Tennis Unveils 2025 Spring Schedule

NEWS

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Head coach Brad Dancer has unveiled the team's 2025 spring schedule, which marks his 20th dual season at the helm of the program. In addition to playing a three-team event at Atkins Tennis Center in January, the Fighting Illini are set to host nine dual matches across the squad's spring slate.

The Orange and Blue will begin their spring schedule with the Thunderbird Invite from Jan. 7-12 in Tempe, Arizona. Illinois will then open its home slate with the Fighting Illini Invite, which will feature Illinois participating in singles and doubles action against players from Boise State and Columbia from Jan. 17-19.

The Illini will then take part in the annual ITA Kickoff Weekend in Knoxville, Tennessee, with the squad set to square off with the host Volunteers on Jan. 25. Illinois will take on either Auburn or Michigan on Jan. 26. If the Illini win both matches and advance out of the group stage, they will progress to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship from Feb. 14-18.

A two-match road swing against Duke and North Carolina is next on the calendar for the Orange and Blue. The Illini will play the Blue Devils on Jan. 31 before facing the Tar Heels the following day, Feb. 1.

Illinois' first home dual matches are set for Feb. 5, when Clemson and Notre Dame come to town for a doubleheader. After hosting Michigan for a nonconference match on Feb. 22, the Illini will hit the road to take on UTRGV and Baylor on March 1 followed by Ohio State on March 5 for the team's final nonconference contests of the spring.

The Orange and Blue's Big Ten campaign starts at Atkins Tennis Center on March 7, when Illinois hosts Nebraska, followed by Wisconsin on March 9. The Illini won't travel far for their first Big Ten road matches the following weekend, visiting Purdue (March 14) and Indiana (March 16).

Returning home after the two-match road trip, Illinois will host conference newcomers UCLA (March 21) and USC (March 23) for the teams' first dual matchups as Big Ten foes.

Five of the Illini's final seven conference matches will be held away from home. A three-match stretch features road contests at Northwestern (March 29), Michigan (April 4), and Michigan State (April 6). The Orange and Blue will then conclude their home schedule against Ohio State (April 11) and Penn State (April 12).

Illinois will head to the West Coast to take on Oregon on April 18 and Washington on April 20 to round out the team's regular-season slate.

The Big Ten Tournament is set for April 24-27 on the campus of Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. The first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament are scheduled for the following weekend, May 2-4.
