CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois wide receiver Pat Bryant was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Bryant caught the game-winning touchdown with 0:04 remaining as part of a 197-yard, seven-reception performance to lead #24 Illinois to a 38-31 win at Rutgers. He scored his third game-winning touchdown in the final minute or overtime this season, the most in the nation.
Bryant led Illinois' comeback charge with 140 receiving yards on four catches during the fourth quarter. His 197 receiving yards were the second-most by a Big Ten player this season and the most by a wide receiver (TE Tyler Warren, Penn State, 227 vs. USC).
On the game-winning touchdown catch, Bryant surpassed 2,000 receiving yards in his career. On the season, Bryant has 50 receptions for 914 yards and nine touchdowns, one touchdown catch away from tying the Illinois record.
Bryant and the Illini travel to Wrigley Field to take on Northwestern on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on Big Ten Network.
