Illinois Wrestling Announces 2024-25 Big Ten Schedule

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced the Fighting Illini's conference dual slate on Tuesday (Oct. 8). Illinois will wrestle eight conference opponents, four at home and four on the road.

The preseason No. 12 Fighting Illini open their conference schedule on the road against No. 30 Indiana on Friday, Dec. 6, in Bloomington, Ind. This will be the 93rd meeting between the Hoosiers and Illini and the first since 2022, when Illinois won, 36-3. The all-time series record is 50-41-1 in Illinois' favor.

Champaign will see its first Big Ten dual action on Friday, Jan. 10, when No. 7 Ohio State comes to town. The Orange and Blue aim to avenge their 36-6 defeat last year in Columbus, Ohio. In-state rival No. 26 Northwestern journeys in two days later on Sunday, Jan. 12. Illinois got its 50th win over the Wildcats last year, 21-20, to improve its all-time series lead to 50-35-2.

Illinois then hits the road for three straight duals, with No. 2 Iowa being the first stop on Friday, Jan. 17, in Iowa City. The following weekend, the Illini travel to College Park, Md., to take on No. 27 Maryland on Friday, Jan. 24, and Piscataway, N.J., to face No. 18 Rutgers on Sunday, Jan. 26.

The Orange and Blue return home on Saturday, Feb. 1, to take on rival No. 29 Purdue. Illinois pulled off a 19-18 comeback victory last season to extend the all-time series lead to 60-30-2. The regular season ends in Champaign with the No. 1 Penn State Nittany Lions on Sunday, Feb. 16. The all-time series between the two squads is even at 9-9.
