LINCOLN, Neb. -The Illinois women's basketball team got a 20-point performance from the bench, but fell 56-48 to the [RV/NR] Nebraska Cornhuskers on the road Thursday.
Brynn Shoup-Hill led the Fighting Illini (6-8, 0-4) with 14 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Makira Cook also tacked on eight points and four steals and Jada Peebles helped out with six points and two steals from the bench.
The Illinois offense was productive from deep, making nine threes on 25 attempts. Shoup-Hill matched her career-high, draining four treys in the contest.
The Illinois defense held Nebraska's shooters to just 33.9 percent from the field.

Nebraska built a lead after halftime, and the Fighting Illini faced a 49-39 deficit heading to the fourth quarter. The Illini knocked down two three-pointers in the frame to score six of its 10 total points.
Illinois came out of the third quarter break clicking on all cylinders, going on a 9-0 run, finished off by Cook's layup, to shrink the deficit to 49-48 with 2:52 to go in the contest. Nebraska responded and outscored the Fighting Illini the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 56-48.Â
