CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Four former Illini are in action this week as play continues across the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions, DP World Tour, and LIV Golf League.
PGA TOUR
PGA TOUR veteran D.A. Points is in the field for his seventh start of the 2022-23 season, teeing off this week at the AT&T Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. Points is set to open his week with a 1:06 p.m. CT tee time on Thursday.
PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS
Steve Stricker continued his run atop the PGA TOUR Champions and the Charles Schwab Cup this week after posting a tie for fifth at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic for his sixth top-5 finish in seven starts this season.
Now, the Illini great turns his attention to the Regions Tradition, the season's first major, which tees off Thursday with four rounds slated for Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. Stricker will make his sixth career start in the event and is in search of his fifth consecutive top-two finish; he posted wins in 2019 and 2022, lost a playoff for the 2020 title, and tied for second at the event in 2018.
DP WORLD TOUR
Thomas Detry returns to action on the DP World Tour this week, taking on an unofficial role as host when play begins at the Soudal Open in his native Belgium.
It marks the first DP World Tour event for Detry since mid-December, as the former Illini has instead made 16 starts on the PGA TOUR this year to date.
LIV GOLF LEAGUE
Thomas Pieters and his RangeGoats teammates are coming off the team's best finish of the season, a three-stroke team victory at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore.
Pieters, who placed 23rd for his second-best individual result of the season, is back stateside this week as the LIV Golf League makes its stop, starting Friday, at Cedar Ridge Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
