CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini women's basketball assistant coaches Britney Anderson and Calamity McEntire have been named to Silver Waves Media's 50 Most Impactful High Major Assistants list, the organization announced Monday. McEntire enters her second season at Illinois in 2023-24 while Anderson is in her first after being hired by Illini head coach Shauna Green in April. Illinois is one of just two Big Ten schools to have two coaches make the list while five other B1G teams have one assistant on the list.Â
Anderson joined the Fighting Illini program after three seasons at Stanford during which the team had the second-most victories and third-best winning percentage of any school in the country, posting a record of 92-12 (.885). With Anderson on the coaching staff, the Cardinal went 50-5 against Pac-12 opponents during the regular season and won three consecutive Pac-12 regular season championships in addition to the 2021 and 2022 tournament titles.
Across her assistant coaching career, Anderson has made stops at Radford, Virginia Tech, Stanford and Illinois.
McEntire has worked with Green at both Dayton and Illinois, totaling five seasons together. Upon their reunion at UI, McEntire was named the Illini's associate head coach. During her one year gap from Green's staff, McEntire was an assistant at Texas, helping the Longhorns to an Elite Eight run in the NCAA Tournament. Across the last six seasons, McEntire's team has made a postseason appearance (NCAA or WNIT) in each.
Off the court, McEntire was selected to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) NEXT UP program in 2020 and was recognized as one of 50 Impactful DI Women's Basketball Assistants by Silver Waves Media for the first time in April 2020.
Across her career, McEntire has left her impact at Fresno State, UC Santa Barbara, Boise State, Arizona, Hawai'i, Dayton, Texas and Illinois.
