STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The No.4-seeded Illinois men's gymnastics will be advancing to the Super Six after scoring a 405.524 in the first session of the NCAA Championships on Friday afternoon.
"While the boys competed a little bit tight today," head coach Daniel Ribeiro said, "their preparation and resiliency was enough to carry us into the Super Six. David Pochinka, Connor McCool, and Ian Skirkey performed amazing routines to help put us back on track after a few uncharacteristic errors. Tomorrow is the final day of season and we will leave everything we have out on that floor."
The Illini began on parallel bars with David Pochinka securing the top Illinois score with a 14.466. Will Hauke also scored impressively with a 14.166.
Pochinka continued his success moving onto high bar, scoring a 13.533. Evan Manivong and Kyle Mayotte were close behind, securing a 13.300 on the event.
