CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois softball Head Coach Tyra Perry announced the addition of Ella Cady to Fighting Illini softball's Class of 2023 on Wednesday. Cady marks the fifth addition to the Illini program for Coach Perry.

Notes: Four-year varsity letter winner… Ranked 227 nationally in the class of 2023 by Extra Innings softball… Named an all-state honorable mention as a junior… Earned all-district, all-league and all-region distinction in 2022... Last season, hit .462 with 41 RBI, 33 runs and three homers… Hobbies include baking... Lists Haley Cruse as her favorite athlete.
Coach Perry on Cady: "Ella Cady comes from a softball rich family. Her sister Hannah is a standout infielder for Big Ten rival Northwestern. Ella is a hard worker that will add depth to our lineup. We are excited to welcome Ella to our program."
