BLOOMINGTON/ELKHART, Ind. – The Fighting Illini swim and dive programs both wrapped up the first day of their season finales on Thursday, March 9. The swim team is out in Elkhart, Ind. for the CSCAA National Invitational Championships. While the dive team is in Bloomington, Ind. for the NCAA Diving Zones C. Sophomore Logan Kuehne broke the school record in the 50 butterfly prelims (24.64). This time qualified her for the finals where she placed ninth (24.66).

Four other Illini qualified for the night finals: Sophomore Sydney Stoll (200 IM), freshman Sara Jass (200 IM), freshman Liv Dorshorst (500 freestyle) and sophomore Suvana Baskar (50 backstroke).
Stoll (3rd, 2:00.94) and Jass (5th, 2:01.37) both qualified for the finals in the 200 IM. They flipped positions in the finals; Jass touched third (1:59.85) and Stoll touched fifth (2:00.90).
Baskar swam the school's new third best 50 backstroke time in the finals (25.35) and placed 11th overall, she qualified with a 25.53. Dorshorst recorded the programs fourth fastest 500 freestyle in the prelims (4:51.01). She placed 19th in the finals (4:57.00).

Two divers competed in the three-meter dive today, Â juniors Brooke and Taylor Michael. Brooke placed 24th with a score of 260.60 and Taylor placed 37th with a score of 234.10.

The swim and dive teams are both back in action tomorrow, March 10, for the second day of their respective post season finales.
