CHAMPAIGN, ill. – The No. 4-ranked Fighting Illini men's gymnastics team will compete in the Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio on March 31-April 1.
ABOUT THE MEET
The first day of the championships (March 31) will be the team competition with the second day (April 1) being individual competition.
The Illini will compete against the five teams in the Big Ten Championships, hosted by Ohio State.
The Illini finished the season 2-2 in conference competition and finished tied for second. Illinois proved everyone wrong with this finish as they were voted to come in last in the Big Ten in the pre-season polls.

Illinois men's gymnastics senior Connor McCool and graduate student Michael Fletcher both broke career-highs in a 411.250-405.550 loss to No. 3 Michigan Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Floor started out strong for the Illini, with McCool breaking his career-high with a 14.900. Michael Fletcher scored a 13.900 on the apparatus with Will Hauke securing a 13.750. Evan Manivong and Amari Sewell closed it out with a 13.550.
Ian Skirkey landed a monster score on pommel horse with a 15.150, with Hauke landing a 13.900. David Pochinka scored a 13.700 with Connor Micklos securing a 13.600.
Ashton Anaya also secured an impressive score with a 14.650 on still rings. Ethan Boder tallied a 13.750 with Fletcher notching a 13.500 and Josh Cook scoring a 13.400.
Onto vault, Sewell scored a 14.700 with McCool following behind with a 14.350. Fletcher took a 14.100 with Cook securing a 14.050.
Fletcher broke his career-high on parallel bars, securing a 14.300. Pochinka scored a 13.700 and Micklos tied his career-high of 13.400.
Manivong had the highest Illini score on high bar with a 13.350 with Hauke securing a 12.900.
Fletcher also took home the all-around title with a 82.200.

The Illini finished the Big Ten Championships in fourth for two straight years (2022, 2021) after finishing in second in 2019.
In 2018, Illinois won the tournament with a score of 413.900 with notable alumni, including, Ross Thompson, Brandon Ngai, Alex Diab and Olympic medalist Tyson Bull.
