BLOOMINGTON/ELKHART, Ind. – The Fighting Illini swim and dive programs both wrapped up the second day of their season finales on Friday, March 10. The swim team is out in Elkhart, Ind. for the CSCAA National Invitational Championships. While the dive team is in Bloomington, Ind. for the NCAA Diving Zones C. Freshman Sara Jass placed second in the 400 IM and recorded the school's third fastest time, 4:16.49. She qualified with a fifth-place finish in the prelims (4:18.89).

Sophomore Suvana Baskar swam the school's sixth fastest 100 backstroke in the prelims (55.07). This qualified her for the evening finals where she placed 10th (55.41). The remaining two top-10 program times were swam in the 100 IM time trials by sophomore Logan Kuehne (fourth, 58.57) and junior Lily Olson (fifth, 58.97).
Junior Cara Bognar joined Jass in the 400 IM finals. She placed 10th (4:23.49) and qualified with an eighth-place finish in the prelims (4:21.19).
Sophomore Sydney Stoll placed 17th in the 200 freestyle finals (1:49.81), she placed 18th in the prelims to qualify (1:49.37). Senior Kaleigh Haworth qualified for the 100 breaststroke finals with an 19th place finish in the prelims (1:02.70). She placed 20th in the finals (1:03.24).
The 800 freestyle relay team of Liv Dorshorst, Sydney Stoll, Sara Jass and Lauren Beard placed ninth (7:25.00). The 200 medley relay team of Baskar, Haworth, Kuehne and Olson placed 17th out of 53 teams (1:42.22).

Four Illini divers competed in today's competition of the one-meter boards. Junior Brooke Michael led the way with a score of 240.45 and placed 25th. Her twin sister, junior Taylor Michael, followed her with a score of 222.45 that placed her 39th. Freshman Abby Manos scored 191.75 and placed 50th. Senior Erin Young placed 54th on a score of 180.75.

The swim and dive teams are both back in action tomorrow, March 11, for the final day of their respective post season finales.
