CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 18 Illinois wrestling team fell in their final home match of the 2022-23 season, 19-27, to No. 10 Nebraska on Friday, Feb. 3. The Illini compiled a 4-2 record overall at home for the season. Redshirt senior Matt Wroblewski closed out senior day in the best way possible, he pinned Nebraska's Harley Andrews in 5:35.

Redshirt sophomore No. 10 Lucas Byrd started off the scoring for the Illini. He compiled 1:45 of riding time enroute to a 3-0 decision over Kyle Burwick to make the team score 3-4. Redshirt freshman Jake Harrier won via forfeit which knotted up the dual at 9.

Redshirt junior No. 20 Danny Braunagel returned to the win column with a major decision over Adam Thebeau 14-5. This made the team score 13-15 and as close as the Illini would get the rest of the way.

Wroblewski threw the team score out of the window and focused on his final match in the State Farm Center. The team and fans cheered him on like it was 0-0 and celebrated his well-earned senior moment on the last match of the night. This was his third fall of the year and fifth in his career.
