ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Illinois swimming and diving team completed day two action of the Big Ten Championships on Thursday, Feb. 16. The 400 medley relay team of senior's Athena Salafatinos, Kaleigh Haworth, Isabelle Guerra and junior Lily Olson set a new school record time of 3:41.32, they placed twelfth. Sophomore Sydney Stoll and freshman Sara Jass both qualified for the finals in the 200 IM.
Stoll placed second in the 200 IM C finals heat with a time of 1:59.73, the third fastest time in school history and almost three seconds faster than her previous personal-best (2:02.44). She qualified with a 2:00.56, which stood as the program's fifth best mark until her finals swim. Jass qualified for the C final with a 2:00.42 and placed 6th in the C finals heat with a 2:00.97.
Salafatinos swam the school's new tenth best program mark in the 50 freestyle time trials (23.23). She also improved her school's third best 100 backstroke to 54.24 as the leadoff in the 400 medley.
