ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Illinois track and field programs completed day one of the Don Kirby Elite Invitational on Friday, Feb. 10. The women's 4x400 team of senior's Jessica McDowell, Danni Stoughton, Olivia Howell and freshman Madison Hardamon won the race with a 3:37.72, the best mark in a decade.
The last time a women's 4x400 team ran faster was at the 2013 Big Ten Indoor Championships when the team of Asia Thomas, Morolake Akinosun, Marissa Golliday and Ashley Spencer set the school record with a 3:33.30.
Freshman Azariyah Bryant etched her name in the school's 200m record book. She now holds the seventh best mark (23.79) and she placed third today.
Freshman Tadeas Placek and Madison Hardamon both set new personal-best en route to their wins the 400m dash. Placek ran a 47.20 and Hardamon clocked a 55.31. Redshirt senior Kashief King took second (47.64).
UP NEXT
The Illini track and field teams are back in action Saturday, Feb. 11 for the final day in New Mexico. Field events will start at 9:30 and running events begin an hour later at 10:30 a.m. CT.
