
Illini Swim Shatters Three School Records on Day Two of Boilermaker Invite

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Fighting Illini swim and dive team wrapped up day two of competition at the Boilermaker Invite on Friday, Nov. 17. The Illini currently sit in third place with 377 points. Junior Sydney Stoll won the 100 butterfly finals with a brand new school record, 54.24.
BETWEEN THE LANES
The 200 medley relay team of junior Suvana Baskar, freshman Kylee Sessions, junior Logan Kuehne and senior Lily Olson began Friday night's finals by shattering the program record and earning second place (1:39.37).
Baskar broke her own school record 100 backstroke in the finals tonight; she placed second with her new program record time of 53.66. She was also the 200 medley relay lead off tonight and moved up to second on the school's 50 backstroke leaderboard (25.02).
Kuehne moved into the program's 100 butterfly top-10 list; she's now ninth in school history with a time of 55.39 that placed her seventh in the finals tonight.
A plethora of other Illini recorded more personal-bests from day two action. Freshman Kalina Nikolaeva placed 11th in the 400 IM finals with a new best time (4:24.27). In the 100 butterfly three Illini left the pool with new best marks: junior Jane Umhofer (57.31), Baskar (57.59) and freshman Marin McAndrew (58.28). Freshman Martina Cibulkova (1:51.27) and senior Laurel Bludgen (1:51.68) clocked new bests in the 200 freestyle.
ON THE BOARDS
Junior Taylor Michael led the Orange and Blue divers on the one-meter boards. She placed 10th in the finals with a score of 246.45. Freshman Elleka Boeres scored 234.15 points and placed 11th in tonight's finals right behind Michael.

The Illinois swimming and diving squad is back in action tomorrow, Nov. 18, for the final day of the Boilermaker Invite. Prelims begin at 9:30 a.m. and finials begin at 5 p.m. CT.
