CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Former Fighting Illini great quarterback Juice Williams will serve as the team's honorary captain for Friday evening's matchup with the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium.
Williams started 44 games for the Fighting Illini from 2006-09 on his way to becoming one of Illinois' all-time great quarterbacks. His 2,557 rushing yards are the most ever by an Illini quarterback and he ranks fourth in program history with 8,037 passing yards.
Williams led Illinois to one of the biggest upsets in program history when he threw for 140 yards and rushed for 70 yards in a win at #1 Ohio State in 2007. The victory in Columbus was Illinois' first ever road win over a #1-ranked team and took the Fighting Illini to the 2008 Rose Bowl Game.
Illinois and Nebraska are scheduled to kickoff Friday at 7 p.m. CT on FS1.
