CHICAGO, Ill. – The Illinois men's gymnastics program is set to kick off the 2023 season with the annual Windy City Invitational on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Navy Pier in Chicago, Ill.
The schools participating include – NIU, UIC, Michigan, Ohio State and Greenville.
HISTORY
The Illini are looking to improve on their third place finish from the 2022 Windy City Invitational, where they scored a solid 385.950.
Graduate student Michael Fletcher had a standout performance, scoring the highest of the Illini on pommel horse and still rings with a 12.650 and 12.900.
Senior Dylan Kolak and junior Logan Myers both led the Illini on vault with a 14.200.
GYMNAST TO WATCH
Senior Connor McCool and graduate student Ian Skirkey were tabbed the Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch prior to the season.
Sophomore Ashton Anaya is back after capturing the Big Ten title in still rings at the 2022 Big Ten Tournament.
The trio are fresh off of first-place finishes at the CGA All-Star games last month. McCool and Skirkey also competed in the U.S Championships this summer.
