CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois running back Chase Brown was named the Big Ten co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Brown splits the award with Northwestern quarterback Ryan Hilinski.
Brown had a dominant season opener against Wyoming, rushing for 151 yards and scoring three touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving). He went for over 100 yards in the first half alone and surpassed the 2,000 yard mark for his career in the process.
Brown tied for the national lead in touchdowns during Week 0 with three TDs and ranked fourth in rushing yards. His 151 rushing yards were the most by an Illini in a season opener since at least 1945.
Brown and the Illini travel to Indiana to open Big Ten play on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on FS1.
