All-Region Teams
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois left-hander Cole Kirschsieper was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region second team, the ABCA announced Wednesday.
Kirschsieper finished fifth in the Big Ten in innings pitched (87.1) and seventh in ERA (3.40). His 88 strikeouts ranked 10ths and his seven wins tied for fourth in the conference.
Kirschsieper appeared in and started 15 games for the Illini in 2022 and allowed opponents to hit just .232 against him. He led Illinois in nearly every pitching category as the Friday night starter.
Kirschsieper, who played for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team last summer, is draft eligible and hopeful to hear his name called early in the 2022 MLB Draft. This year's MLB Draft runs July 17-19 and will feature 20 rounds.
