CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini alumni move on to Week 22 of the 2022 campaign with several teeing off this week across the DP World Tour, PGA Tour Champions and Korn Ferry Tour.
DP World Tour
On the DP World Tour, Thomas Detry will be representing for the Orange and Blue when he opens play Thursday at the Porsche European Open at Green Eagle Golf Course in Hamburg, Germany. Detry finished 66th at last week's Dutch Open.
Former Illini teammate and fellow Belgian Thomas Pieters is not scheduled to compete this week, but is coming off a top-10 finish at the Dutch Open. It marked Pieters' his second consecutive top-10 DP World Tour finish, and his third overall in 2022 including his win to open the season at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January.
PGA Tour Champions
Illinois legend Steve Stricker is scheduled to return to action after being a late scratch at the Senior PGA Championship last week due to a positive COVID-19 test result. Stricker was slated to tee off in the field which also included his former Illini teammate and current Illinois head coach Mike Small.
Stricker has been impressive of late, and is coming off of a victory in his last outing at the Regions Tradition, once again making him a favorite to compete for the title at this week's Principal Charity Classic which tees off Friday at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
Korn Ferry Tour
The Korn Ferry Tour will once again feature multiple Illini in the field, this week at the REX Hospital Open at The Country Club at Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, N.C.
Dylan Meyer and Michael Feagles are each slated to compete for the crown after finishing tied for 23rd and tied for 59, respectively, in a field that also included former Illini Nick Hardy (2nd) and Luke Guthrie (t-52nd) at the NV5 Invitational in nearby Glenview, Ill.
Hardy competed in the event while working back from injury and impressed in front of his hometown crowd, shooting a 72-hole total of 22-under 262 to force a playoff before coming up just short in a playoff battle with eventual champion Harry Hall.
