FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. – Action kicked off at the 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor West Prelims, hosted by the University of Arkansas at John McDonnell Field, on Wednesday (May 25), with the day highlighted by graduate student Jon Davis and senior Bret Dannis advancing to their individual event finals.
Dannis started things off for the Illini, turning in a personal-best time of 13.68 to finish eighth in the men's 110m hurdles. The Peru, Ill., will look to punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships with the men's 110m hurdle finals on Friday (May 27) at 6:15 p.m. CT.
Also looking to make a trip to Eugene, Ore., was Davis, who placed first in his heat and was 17th overall with a time of 3:45.30 in the men's 1,500m. The Oakwood, Ill., will race in the finals of the men's 1,500m on Friday at 5:15 p.m. CT.
Another five Illini will be in action on Thursday as day two features the trio of junior Olivia Howell, senior Emma Milburn and freshman Halle Hill in the women's 1500m at 5:15 p.m. CT, followed by freshman Tori Thomas in the women's pole vault at 6:30 p.m. CT and junior Jessica McDowell in the women's 400m at 7:25 p.m. CT.
