CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Fighting Illini infielder Cam McDonald set the Illinois on-base streak record (58 consecutive games) with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning as Illinois fell to Nebraska on Saturday afternoon at Illinois Field, 11-2. Justin Janas and Ryan Moerman each had two-hit games while Taylor Jackson and McDonald both drove in runs. Â
Nebraska (20-28, 8-12 B1G)Â scored 11 runs on 12 hits to take the second game of the series. The Illini offense tallied nine hits but only two runs. Illinois is now 27-20 (13-7 B1G) with the loss. Nebraska's Olson is credited with the win and moves to 3-3 on the season, while the Illini's Riley Gowens (5-3) takes the loss.
Illinois returns to Illinois Field tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. for the rubber game of the series which will be televised on ESPN2.
