Green Adds Emily Durr to Fighting Illini Staff

NEWS

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini women's basketball head coach Shauna Green has added another piece to her inaugural Illinois staff, announcing Tuesday (May 10) the addition of Emily Durr as the program's Director of Recruiting Operations, pending approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.

"I am very excited that Emily will be joining our Illini family," Green said. "Emily brings a wealth of knowledge with her from her experience as a successful player at Iowa State and a head junior college coach. She spent last year on our staff so she is familiar with our culture and our system. Emily is someone who will impact our program in multiple ways and I can't wait for her to get started."

Durr joins the Fighting Illini after spending the 2021-22 season as an administrative associate on Green's staff at Dayton where she helped the Flyers to an Atlantic 10 regular-season championship and an NCAA Tournament berth.

"I'm very honored and excited for the opportunity to join Coach Shauna Green and the Fighting Illini family," Durr said. "Coach Green is a proven winner, whose passion for the game is truly infectious. I look forward to working with this amazing staff and contributing to its future success!"

Following her collegiate playing career at Iowa State, Durr spent two years as the head coach at Mohawk Valley Community College located in her hometown of Utica, N.Y. In her first season (2019-20), Durr led the Lady Hawks to a 17-7 record and a No. 6 ranking in the national polls. However her second season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Durr was a standout guard at Iowa State from 2014-18, playing in 122 career games with 42 starts while amassing 965 points, 295 rebounds and 218 assists for the Cyclones. Durr helped the Cyclones to two NCAA Tournament runs in 2015 and 2017. As a senior she served as team captain and ranked second on the team in scoring (12.7 ppg), while leading the team in assists (3.9 apg).

Durr earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science from ISU in 2018.
