CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Another busy week is ahead for former Illini men's golfers in the pro ranks, highlighted by Thomas Pieters and Thomas Detry, two of Illinois program's most prominent international alumni, as the DP World Tour is set for a stop in their native Belgium.Â
DP WORLD TOUR
Pieters, currently No. 36 in the Official World Golf Rankings, and Detry will take on a host role as the DP World Tour is set to make a stop in Antwerp, Belgium for the upcoming Soudal Open.
The tournament will mark the first professional event for Pieters since the World's No. 36-ranked golfer teed off will tee off for the first time since his appearance at The Masters last month.
Detry is coming off of a tie for 54th last week at the Betfred British Masters, and has now made the cut in six of DP World Tour events in 2022.
PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS
Illini great Steve Stricker wasted no time in returning to form when he returned to the PGA Tour Champions two weeks ago with a tie for second at the Insperity Invitational, followed by a top-10 at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic.
This week, Stricker is ranked among the favorites at the Regions Tradition, the first major of the PGA Tour Champions season. Stricker won the event in in 2019, and finished second in a playoff at the 2021 Regions Tradition.
KORN FERRY TOUR
Both Dylan Meyer and Michael Feagles have each seen recent success on the Korn Ferry Tour this month.
Meyer, who Monday-qualified to gain entry into the Huntsville Championship, April 28-May 1, made the cut and fired a closing round oof 69 to grab a share of 53rd.
The following week, Feagles, made his fourth cut of the season to tie for 32nd at the Simmons Bank Open. The 2021 Illini grad will be back in action on the Korn Ferry Tour again this week, teeing off Thursday at the Visit Knoxville Open in Knoxville, Tenn.
