Illini Earn Two Victories at Home

URBANA, Ill. -  Illinois men's tennis defeated Michigan State 6-1 and Butler 4-1 on Sunday. Illinois moved to 2-2 in Big Ten play after beating the Spartans. Illinois won the doubles point with wins on courts 1 and 2.

Illini built a 4-0 lead with Nic Meister clinching the match on court 5, defeating Lair 7-5,2-6, 6-3. It was Meister's first career clinch in the Orange and Blue. Michigan state earned a point on court 2. Alex Brown and Lucas Horve finished out the match with wins on Courts 4 and 5.

In the second match of the day Illinois took on Butler. They defeated the Bulldogs in doubles on courts 1 and 2. No. 50 Hunter Heck and Horve defeated Brennan/Huete 6-3 to clinch the point. In singles Horve and Guzauskas quickly won on courts 4 and 6 to give Illini a 3-0 lead.

No. 92 Heck clinched the match for Illinois on court 2, defeating Dickson 6-3,5-7,6-4.
