CHAMPAIGN, Ill. --Â Team golf will be the name of the game this week as the PGA Tour schedule rolls on with one of the most unique events of the season at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
The event, set to tee off Thursday at TPC Louisiana (par 72, 7425 yards) in Avondale, La., will feature 80 teams of two golfers playing alternating rounds of four balls (best ball) in Rounds 1 and 3 and foursomes (alternate shot) in Rounds 2 and four in search of the championship. Among the 80-team, 160-player field will be a pair of Fighting Illini alumni in D.A. Points and Nick Hardy. Â
Points, now in his 23rd year as a professional, and Hardy, a four-year pro in his rookie campaign on the PGA Tour, will each pair off with teammates to take on the rest of the field. This marks Hardy's first time in the field at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Points, on the other hand, has experienced previous success in the event during his career, including a runner-up finish in 2013 (pictured above). Â
Points is set to team up with Scott Gutschewski, while Hardy will play with partner Curtis Thompson.Â
