CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – It is a busy week ahead for Fighting Illini men's golf touring professionals, with four alums slated to take part in PGA Tour events, along with action on the Korn Ferry Tour.
PGA TOUR
Thomas Pieters remains the highest-rated Illini alum in the Official World Golf Rankings, coming in at No. 31 fresh off his appearance two weeks ago at The PLAYERS Championship. Pieters is back stateside this week and is schedule to tee off Wednesday at Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas, at the World Golf Championships – Dell Technologies Match Play.
Three Illini will also be competing together at the PGA Tour's Corales Puntacana Championship at Corales Golf Course in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Round 1 is slated to begin on Thursday, with veterans D.A. Points and Thomas Detry joining PGA Tour rookie Nick Hardy in the field.
Last week, Illini alum Luke Guthrie Monday qualified to compete in the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla. Guthrie shot rounds of 69 and 71, finishing just one stroke off of the cut line.
KORN FERRY TOUR
Michael Feagles looks to maintain his positive momentum with another solid performance this week on the Korn Ferry Tour. Feagles tied 21st at last week's Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS, his first-career top-25 finish on the Korn Ferry Tour. The Korn Ferry Tour rookie put himself in position with rounds of 69-70-71 before closing with a career-low 65 to ascend 26 spots up the individual leaderboard on Sunday.
Feagles now turns his attention to the Lake Charles Championship, teeing off Thursday at the Country Club at Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, La.
